PORTLAND – An Oregon school designed by architects at DOWA-IBI Group is the grand-prize winner in the 2013 National School Board Association (NSBA) Exhibition of School Architecture.

Trillium Creek Primary School, in West Linn, Oregon, 15 miles south of Portland, was completed in 2012 and is registered for LEED Gold.

NSBA jurors described the school as “truly a design that would engage and excite children … the building creates cohesive classroom neighbourhoods organized around an open media center in the heart of the school. The richness of the plan is further enhanced by the creativity shown in developing the interior and exterior of the building with child-inspired level transitions, spaces and accent colors.”

A second school designed by DOWA-IBI Group, Sandy High School, in Sandy, Oregon, won a special design citation.
