IBI Group wins every K-12 architectural citation in ASU awards

PORTLAND – School architecture projects by IBI Group won the three citations awarded in the K-12 categories of the American School & University Magazine awards announced this month.
DOWA – IBI Group Architects, Inc., based in Portland, Oregon, won for Trillium Creek Primary School in West Linn, Oregon in the Elementary School category, and for Ridgeview High School in Redmond, Oregon, in the High School category.
IBI Group • Gruzen Samton, based in New York City, won for The Abraham Joshua Heschel School in New York City in the Combined-Level School category.
The jury praised the Trillium Creek school for “the use of innovative, playful spaces that inspire learning … great use of color and scale.” They praised the Ridgeview school as “… very much a 21st-century school. Natural lighting and design elements are prevalent in this project.” And they praised the Heschel school as representing ” … a progressive approach to a multi-level, multi-grade urban school.”
“These awards speak volumes for the excellent architectural work being done in the educational marketplace by the firm,” said Karina Ruiz, associate principal at DOWA – IBI Group Architects. “We plan to continue to leverage this recognition of our work as we build a comprehensive educational practice across the firm.”
