DETROIT – Matthew Stone, director of project development in the IBI Group Southfield office, in suburban Detroit, has been named one of “Top 40 under 40” by Crain’s Detroit Business, a major southeast Michigan business news publication.

The award honours 40 high achievers in southeast Michigan who have made their marks in business before age 40.

Matt is responsible for leading all sales and marketing for the 115-person Southfield office. Honoured to receive the award, he said that diversification is a key strategy of IBI Group.

“We are trying to diversify our business through growth while maintaining our existing client base amidst intense competition,” he said. “As challenging as this is, the combination of our firm’s breadth, depth, and staff commitment to excellence provides a competitive advantage few can match.”

Matt played a key role in the contracts for two large construction projects for General Motors: the $600-million paint shop at the Fairfax assembly plant near Kansas City, and the $258-million data center at the Milford Proving Grounds, northwest of Detroit.

The construction value of the projects for IBI Group totals about $165 million. Both are design-build with fast-track schedules.
