TORONTO – A transit station modernization by IBI Group Architects has won its third award in two months.

The Victoria Park Bus Terminal Replacement project, at the east end of the city’s Bloor-Danforth subway line, has won a 2013 Architectural Merit award from the Ontario Concrete Awards.

Concrete was used for the entire bus canopy, including the roof, canopy, soffit, and columns, as well as the retaining wall and artwall. “It was extremely challenging to design concrete at a confluence of firmness, commodity, and delight,” said Charlie Hoang, IBI Group project architect.

The award will be presented December 4th at an award banquet to be held at the Toronto Conference Centre.

Earlier this year, the project won an Urban Design award from the City of Toronto and a Sustainable Communities Award from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
