MONTREAL – IBI Group has been awarded a $1-million contract for the preparation of studies for electronic systems for the new federally financed bridge to be built over the St. Lawrence River.

IBI Group will identify options for the operation of intelligent transportation systems, lighting systems, and electronic tolling systems for the new bridge, which will replace the Champlain Bridge, currently the busiest in Canada.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) use information and communication technologies to create efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation networks for drivers. ITS can also provide real-time information so drivers know about delays and accidents as soon as possible.

“IBI Group is excited to be working on this landmark project,” said Usha Elyatamby, Project Manager, “and looking forward to sharing our international experience with Transport Canada.”
