DateMarch 3, 2014
DENVER – IBI Group was part of a team honoured for its work on the West Rail corridor by the Colorado chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS).
West Rail is a 12-mile, light-rail corridor that runs from Denver Union Station to the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden, Colorado.
The project is part of the Denver Regional Transportation District’s (RTD) FasTracks Program planned to address Colorado’s growing need for public transportation and won Large, Innovative Transportation Solution of the Year from the WTS – an international organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women.
Women were key to the success of the project. Roxanne Jacobson and Catherine Wilkinson, of IBI Group, played integral roles in the station design, public open houses and outreach, and in the development of construction documents. RTD’s Brenda Tierney provided leadership and guidance to the design team for public outreach throughout the entirety of the West Rail development.
The IBI Group Denver office was responsible for the planning and final design of the 12 LRT stations for the corridor, the design of the Federal Center Intermodal Bus and ParkN’Ride Facility, and the parking structure at the end-of-line station in Golden.
