IBI Group’s acclaimed Victoria Park Subway Station has won another award – 2014 Design Excellence from the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).

Recipients of the Design Excellence Award were recognized on the basis of creativity, context, sustainability, design for business, and legacy.

“Our redesign set the standard for renovation of these older stations,” explained Charlie Hoang, Project Architect of IBI Group Architects in downtown Toronto. “We brought together seven or eight consultants to achieve our goal. Everyone was proud of it – even the passengers because they had input into the design.”

Winners were selected from more than 170 submissions and feature Canadian projects designed by Ontario architects, ranging from sustainable homes to the redevelopment of key cultural and civic destinations.

The 2014 awards will be presented in Montreal on May 9, 2014 at ceremony and dinner hosted by OAA President Bill Birdsell and Master of Ceremonies, Ben Mulroney.
