IBI Group has been awarded the contract to develop the next phase of the Transportation Plan for the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games to be held in Toronto.

Phase 1, a Strategic Framework for Transportation, was a blueprint for Games transportation prepared by IBI Group and presented by the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario in March. It involved an analysis of transportation systems and defining the transportation requirements for the event.

Phase 2, the Transportation Delivery Plan, will outline specific measures, such as HOV priority lanes, signage, transportation demand management, communications, and operational changes to implement in 30 municipalities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.

“Our extensive experience in transportation planning for major sporting events and our understanding of the region led to operations planning and implementation for the Games,” said Bruce Mori, IBI Group Director and head of Toronto’s transportation planning department. “We will focus on integration, coordination and collaboration among transportation partners in the next phase of work to ensure success.”

The Games will take place at more than 60 venues in the GTA.
