LONDON – IBI Group’s Construction Cup five-a-side football tournament has raised £4387 for the mental health charity “Mind”.

Winners of the London tournament were construction contractors Quinn London FC, with contractors ISG as close runners up. M&E engineers CBG Consultants won the Oxford regional title with consulting engineers Hoare Lea taking second place.

This is the Construction Cup’s fourth year; it has raised over £15,000 for good causes, growing to be one of the most popular annual football events in the industry.

“The event is all about uniting the industry for charity,” said Stuart Ward, IBI Group Architect and founder of the event. “The teams that take part represent every discipline in our industry; everyone plays in high spirits, having the opportunity to network in a social, fun environment.”

The charity Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Its campaigns to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding are entirely funded by the money raised through events like the Construction Cup.

James Reiser of Quinn London said: “It is great to have a tournament where all types of consultants and contractors from within one industry can compete away from the building site all in aid of a good cause. We are proud to have been crowned the 2014 Construction Cup Champions and it is an event we always look forward to in our calendar. We will be back next year in an attempt to retain this prestigious title!”

Chris Hill, Senior Surveyor from ISG added: “The Construction Cup is incredibly well organised and presents the perfect opportunity for some invaluable networking and team bonding while supporting and contributing to the fantastic work IBI are doing with the mental health charity Mind.”

The event was hosted at Poweleague Wembley on June 6 and Oxford Brookes University’s Centre of Sport on June 7, with 36 teams taking part. For the full list of participants and information about registering a team in the Construction Cup 2015 visit www.constructioncup.co.uk .
