JERSEY, UK – Construction has begun on the new £20 million ($36.2 million CDN) States of Jersey Police Headquarters designed by IBI Group. IBI has selected Rok-Regal Construction Limited as preferred contractor to build this hi-tech facility.
“This is another important step that brings the development of the first purpose built Police HQ in Jersey’s history closer to reality,” said Deputy Eddie Noel, the Assistant Treasury and Resources Minister.
IBI Group’s design incorporates state-of-the-art technology that will help support advancements in policing. The five-storey, 7,200 sq m police headquarters includes a 20-cell custody suite, open plan operational support areas to allow agile working, a central control room, and specialist CSI facilities.
“The new custody suite incorporates the very latest systems allowing effective round-the-clock monitoring of detainees to ensure the needs of at-risk detainees are met,” said IBI Group’s Justice Lead Mike Richardson.
The facility will be ready for occupation by the end of 2016.
