IBI to create master plan to re-imagine Orem’s State Street
DateNovember 13, 2014
OREM, UTAH – IBI Group has been commissioned to create a master plan for the redevelopment of State Street, one of the main commercial corridors in Orem, 40 miles south of Salt Lake City.
The plan will consider the full length of the five-mile suburban arterial corridor, providing the city with a guide to future growth that will maintain and attract new business and establish a destination image and identity for the community.
“This is a unique opportunity to reposition the State Street corridor and discover the many hidden sub-districts along its path,” said David Nicholas, IBI Group project manager. “By strategically leveraging infrastructure, transit-oriented land-use patterns, and density, Orem can begin to market itself in a different light and reap economic benefit while creating attractive and identifiable environments to live and work.”
“Ultimately, this must be a plan for the people and by the people creating community ownership and participation,” he added. “A strong framework will set the stage for residents, employees, businesses, and visitors to shape the evolution of the State Street Corridor.”
Work on the project is already underway and will continue through to July 2015.
