Urban Design-Planning practice leads Grace Gao and Ahish Ghate were presented with two CIP Awards of Merit on behalf of IBI Group at the annual CIP Awards for Planning Excellence ceremony today in Quebec City.

As part of their Accent on Planning (#Accent2016) conference, the Canadian Institute of Planners recognized IBI Group in International Development and Sustainable Mobility for the Bhubaneswar Smart City Strategy and the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Transportation Plan, respectively.

The jury regarded the IBI Group’s submission of the Bhubaneswar Smart City Strategy as “an excellent example of a model of sustainable urbanization that has the transformative potential to provide citizens with prosperity, safety, and equity.”

About the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Transportation Plan, the jury commended IBI Group for providing “a positive and safe travel experience for athletes and spectators, while not disrupting commerce, was critical to the success of the games and a major undertaking both in terms of moving people and interagency coordination.”

The 2016 Awards for Planning Excellence selects projects based on excellence, innovation, impact on the profession, implementation potential and overall presentation. This program began in 1983 and has grown to include thirteen award categories.
