Giffels, LLC / IBI Group awarded first place standing in Steel Joist Institute 2009 Design Awards

IBI Group affiliate Giffels, LLC have won first place standing in the Industrial category of Steel Joist Institute 2009 Design Awards. Giffels, LLC / IBI Group acted as Structural Engineer for the Thyssen Krupp Stainless Processing Facility; a $4 billion, world-class, state-of-the-art facility, located in Southern Alabama. When operational the plant will manufacture and process carbon steel and stainless steel for high value applications by manufacturers in the United States, creating 2700 employment opportunities.
Favoured for the innovation and cost-effective structural system used on such a large project, this project was a high qualifier, which subsequently secured the award.
