Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub

Salt Lake City, UT

IBI Group was selected through a design competition to design the new Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub, which will serve as the genesis for urban renewal of the surrounding area. The facility encompasses the design of a 35,000 sq.ft. terminal for Amtrak, Utah Transit Authority City Bus, Utah Transit Authority TRAX, Utah Transit Authority Commuter Rail, and Greyhound Bus. The facility included the retrofitting and seismic upgrade of an existing warehouse 18,000 sq.ft. facility that will function as the Greyhound Terminal. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a rating system designed by the US Green Building Council has awarded the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub with an Official LEED Certification.

Subsequent to the Intermodal HUB assignment, IBI Group was commissioned to produce a Station Area Plan for the 160 acres adjacent to the proposed terminal. This study utilizes IBI Group’s experience in the field of Transit-Oriented Development and establishes a context for the Intermodal HUB, and explores the role that it will play as a catalyst for future development in the area.
