IBI Group was retained by the City of Edmonton to design the new Co-Located Dispatch and Emergency Operations Centre (CD-EOC), bringing together a number of city emergency services. The CD-EOC accommodates call centre and dispatch services for the Edmonton Police Service, the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, and the City’s Community Standards branch.

When designing the CD-EOC, the design team focused on enhancing all aspects of operations through a functionality-based approach to meet the current and future needs of each agency, incorporating advanced integrated technologies into their workspaces. The building is a secured facility with no uncontrolled public access, with a required 25m setback for increased separation from public roadways.

The primary function of the CD-EOC is a call evaluation and dispatch centre, with the necessary office space and amenities to support these functions. During large-scale emergency situations, an Emergency Operations Centre is activated and is able to accommodate representatives from all co-located agencies, plus additional personnel.
