IBI group was challenged by Fasken Martineau to create a contemporary office environment that would set them apart from the traditional offices of their competition and align with the company’s prestigious, young “Brand”. Moving to a new office tower allowed IBI Group to develop a solution that is bright in response to Vancouver’s “grey days”, capitalizing on natural light, with jewel tone coloured glass panels that are incorporated into the perimeter office front sidelights.

The planning solution integrates a universal footprint for all perimeter lawyer offices and a flexible, modular planning footprint for professional and support staff located in the interior. A Client Services area was created with reception and concierge services and numerous boardrooms that morph into different sizes with motorized Skyfold partitions and modular tables. The staff lounge and office service functions are located on a separate floor.

Despite the increased density of the space, the end result is a space that allows light to penetrate into the core, better sound privacy, more effective meeting spaces and fully integrated audio-visual technology. The limited palette of materials, including white terrazzo, buff-polished aluminum and natural quarter-cut elm, provides a sophisticated solution that responds to both the practice’s internal demographics and client base.
