We have passed the point where half of the worlds population is living in cities. If we as planners and designers want to continue to fight urban sprawl, then we need to focus on maintaining a high quality of green infrastructure in our cities and in particular around transit. The public realm, including parks, streets, shared streets and public plazas need to be designed to maximize the human experience. How we animate those spaces, and manage them with a mix of good design and technology will dictate the quality of life in our future cities.

Trevor McIntyre is Global Director, International, which includes IBI Group offices in Europe, the Middle East, and India. He is responsible for the region’s operational results, including financial performance, professional and technical excellence, staff motivation and development, and client satisfaction.
He is a Landscape Architect and member of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architecture and the American Society of Landscape Architecture.

Trevor has been a leading planner, landscape architect, and urban designer for more than 20 years, with projects in Canada, USA, Europe, the Middle East, South America, and Asia. He leads the Toronto IBI Group design practice in community planning and design, master planning, and landscape architecture.
He has a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph.

Her modeling experience includes hydraulic and hydrological analysis using SWMHYMO, XPSWMM and QUALHYMO.

Stephen White has 35 years of experience in design and planning. In this time, he has worked closely with the Principal-In-Charge and the project team to ensure all program elements are incorporated into the design and budgets and time schedules met. As a LEED AP, Stephen incorporates environmentally sustainable design into his projects as part of his everyday practice. His career emphasis has been on design and project management for new construction, remodelling, modernization, assessments, and planning projects. His experience ranges in project types including educational, senior living, residential, skilled nursing, commercial, civic, judicial and juvenile facilities.

Stephen has formed an excellent working relationship with various State and local agencies, including but not limited to: the Division of State Architect, the Office of School Construction, California Department of Education, and the State Chancellor?s Office.

Bill Chomic is responsible for the operation of and design quality for IBI Group’s Electrical Engineering service offering, which includes specialists for fire alarm and security systems. He also takes an active part in the design and coordination of the various ongoing projects to assist in the development and implementation of system concepts. He is supported by a staff of electrical, engineers, CAD drafters and specialists working under his direction, and by specification writers and construction cost estimators. Bill participates in the designs of new facilities as well as for renovation and expansion of existing facilities.

Richard Golledge is a qualified architect specialising in education and healthcare design. As a strong team leader, he has managed the design and delivery of projects under various public sector procurement routes and contracts, including the NEC Partnering contract. Richard is experienced in creating specialist learning environments for leading universities. Adept at delivering schemes from master planning to construction, he works closely with stakeholder groups to deliver the strategic vision. He understands how important the built environment is as a marketing tool for attracting students and has demonstrated this by developing a striking scheme at Cardiff University.

In healthcare, Richard has worked on a number of specialist and acute schemes. He works closely with Trusts to provide value for money.
In science, Richard has developed a very good understanding of laboratory planning and research space design, creating buildings that inspired collaboration, productivity and innovation. Richard has also been heavily involved in IBI’s ‘Four Labs Four Cities’ research project, a comparative study to define best practice features within laboratory spaces.

Richard graduated from the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, where he was awarded the Edward Loveluck Travelling Scholarship 2002. His experience also includes work in the residential sector, where he won a Regional RIBA Award for a one-off house in Malmesbury. His innovative approach to design has been supported by his keen interest in research and development.

In 2009, Richard was selected by the Design Commission for Wales, Royal Society of Architects Wales and the WSA to exhibit his work at the ‘Reflecting Wales 09:09’ exhibition which showcased work of the best of emerging architects in Wales. In 2010, Richard exhibited at the National Eisteddfod in Wales.
