Top 10 Smart City Success Factors
Technology-driven design firm, IBI Group (TSX:IBG), released a whitepaper today on the ‘Top 10 Smart City Success Factors’ ahead of the 2017 ITS World Congress, hosted in Montréal from October 29 – November 2. The whitepaper draws on the firm’s experience designing smart cities and delivering intelligent transportation systems internationally, and sheds light on the key elements required for cities to develop and implement a successful strategy.
“Smart Cities are already a reality. Government and private sector initiatives worldwide are exploring innovative ways to make cities in the 21st Century more efficient, more livable, and more competitive. We believe that achieving these goals is not just about being technologically advanced – it’s also about urban renewal and citizen engagement,” said Bruno Peters, IBI Group Smart Cities Task Force Lead, and author of the whitepaper.
IBI Group's Construction Cup Tops Fundraising Goal for Charity
Organized by IBI Group, the Construction Cup is one of the industry’s most popular charity football tournaments. The event has celebrated its seventh year by achieving its highest-ever fundraising total in aid of Construction Youth Trust (CYT).
IBI Group London and Brighton studios teamed up with CYT to take part in the 2017 Construction Cup tournament last week, where 40 teams united together on 1 September to raise £5,663.80 for the charity. The winner of the title was geotechnical solutions specialists, Keller UK, with construction and property consultants, Core Five, taking second place.
IBI Group-Designed Aintree Helipad is Ready to Save Lives
Aintree University Hospital has a new, £1million helipad, which is set to improve the response times of emergency services in the north west of England and North Wales.
Design and technology firm, IBI Group, led the design of the helipad and secured its planning permission in February 2017. Now a reality, it will cut the time to transfer patients into the hospital, enabling medical staff to deal with critically ill patients much more quickly, ultimately saving more lives. Prior to the completion of the project, air ambulances had to land on playing fields over half a mile away.

We’re bridging the gap between design and technology
From wearable tech to machine learning, technology is changing the way we engage with our world – at the same time unlocking the potential of IBI’s core systems in delivering agile data-driven environments, and in managing the built environment in the age of the network.

Queen Elizabeth University & Royal Hospital For Children
At 170,000 square metres, this ‘super hospital’ is not only one of the largest healthcare developments ever commissioned in the UK, providing over 1,300 beds and one of the largest emergency departments in Scotland, but also a bold addition to the Glasgow skyline and a catalyst for wider economic and social regeneration.
Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre
Opened in the Spring of 2016, The Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) is the second phase of the Science & Innovation Campus at Maindy Road: a new home for world-class research, bringing together experts in brain mapping and neuroscience inside a highly collaborative, energy-efficient environment. The project follows the completion of Phase 1; the IBI Group designed flagship Hadyn Ellis Building.
IBI Group is working with Peel Land and Property to deliver a new, high density community on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal.
