What We Do

K–12 Education

IBI Group designs safe and progressive K–12 facilities that successfully enhance educational, social, and athletic development of youth, incorporating 21st Century Learning capabilities that prepare them for the future.

We have assembled an extensive portfolio of school design for new builds, master planning, modernizations, additions/renovations, and conversions/adaptive reuse. Our firm-wide schools practice allows colleagues to collaborate remotely, utilizing expertise from various regions to understand and implement best practices in school design. Additionally, our proficiency in public consultation and stakeholder engagement brings together multiple viewpoints into a truly integrated design process.

IBI Group creates environments for different learning styles and needs by: designing for flexibility for expansion; designing to enhance the school’s educational model; providing architectural concepts that meet the both current and future technological needs and expectations; and designing exciting, livable learning environments to engage and inspire students.

Our architectural design strategies support and promote 21st century learning by creating spaces that are conducive to different learning modalities; from traditional to high-tech, and from team-based projects to self-directed learning, encompassing a variety of technological tools and methods. Technology such as cloud servers, interactive white boards, smart boards, wireless connectivity/hotspots, and smart building technology such as EMS, controls, and systems integration bring school facilities to the modern era while looking towards the future.
