Steven Kresak is the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of IBI Group Inc. and is responsible for the firm’s legal affairs worldwide. His accountabilities include the legal, compliance, real estate, insurance and corporate governance functions. Steven is based in Toronto, Ontario, IBI Group’s corporate headquarters. From 2006 through 2014 Steven served at Infrastructure Ontario, in a variety of leadership roles including Director, Special Initiatives; Vice President, Sales and Acquisitions; and Senior Vice President, Commercial Projects, where he led a series of transactions to monetize government assets in the transportation, remanufacturing, entertainment, rail and telecommunications sectors. Prior to 2006, he practiced law at Goodmans LLP. Steven earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Saskatchewan and a Law degree (Distinction) from the University of Alberta. He is a former Editor of the Alberta Law Review.

Steve’s primary role has focused on front end project development, building analysis, test fits, programming, strategic real estate analysis, and workplace transformation programs.

He has taught design and building science for 17 years at the School of Architecture, University of Waterloo, Ontario. Comfortable with projects at any scale, northern latitudes or the tropics, Mr. Somfay always looks for design opportunities that further the clients’ goals with an original, practical and economical solution. Firmly committed to sustainability, he has taught and consulted on sustainable design for the past 50 years.

He has more than 30 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in both the private and public sectors at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels across Canada. His experience includes Traffic Engineering, Road Safety, Transportation Planning, Transit Systems, ITS, and Signal System Operations and Maintenance.

Ron has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Business Administration from York University.

Danielle Sernoskie is an Architect with the Transit Architecture Team at IBI Group and is currently the Architectural Project Manager for the three underground stations of the Ottawa LRT – Confederation Line.

Danielle joined IBI Group by way of SGA in 2012 after completing degrees in Architecture at Ryerson University (B.Arch.Sci.) and the University of Toronto (M.Arch). Prior to joining IBI Group she gained experience at a variety of design firms in Toronto as well as in Ireland and Slovakia – working on projects that range from entertainment, commercial and institutional to residential.

During her last six and a half years with IBI Group, Danielle has almost exclusively been involved with the OLRT project beginning with the Pursuit Phase and continuing through the Design Development Phase and, now, Construction Phase. Outside of project work, she is responsible for the hiring and mentoring of co-op students for the Transit Architecture Team, is an active member of STRIVE and is always seeking new opportunities to get involved in business development.
