David also leads IBI’s RouteMapper business, which provides spatial imagery/LiDAR surveying and software services for planning, design, asset management, and maintenance applications. A strong writer and presenter, David is often involved in high-profile initiatives that require interaction at the top levels of public and private sector organizations.
Lauren Macaulay

Lauren Macaulay is an Architect with more than a decade of experience in the design and construction of residential, mixed-use and institutional projects. She has led projects in a wide range of architectural services including master planning, new construction, renovations and sustainability consulting. She is an effective project manager who can guide a team through all stages of the project, from schematic design through construction to occupancy. Lauren is a LEED AP experienced with the LEED BD+C, ND and EBOM rating systems. Paul Hewes

Paul Hewes is the Regional Director of the UK and Ireland, which includes offices in London, Brighton, Cardiff, Birmingham, Newark, Manchester, Liverpool, Rochdale, Glasgow and Dublin. Paul is responsible for regional operational and commercial performance, market growth, staff development and client engagement.
As an architect and project manager, he has extensive experience of the healthcare, education, transport and commercial sectors in the UK and the Middle East. Paul has exceptional knowledge of complex project delivery including strategic planning, procurement, contractual agreements, negotiation and mediation.
Paul is a qualified Architect, having trained at Bristol and Edinburgh Universities, in addition to being both an Arbitrator and a Project Manager, receiving both qualifications from the College of Estate Management, Reading University. Paul has been a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) since 1987.
Jamie Douglas

Jamie Douglas’s previous construction experience and interest in wood frame construction allowed him to fit naturally into the custom projects and complex low to mid-rise work undertaken by the firm. Over the past 20 years, Jamie has primarily focused on residential, resort clubhouses, office facilities, community libraries, private and public camp facilities, heritage renovations and several prestigious custom homes and cottages throughout Ontario and Quebec. He currently specializes in mid and high rise multi-unit and mixed use residential design for a variety of private developers and builders. Many of these higher density projects have low rise product associated with them, which benefit from Jamie’s low-rise experience.
In 2012, Jamie was awarded the prestigious Niagara Escarpment Achievement Award for Outstanding Property & Residential Design in harmony with the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

Neil Murphy

Neil Murphy has extensive experience directing complex public sector projects under a range of contract and procurement routes. He is a very strong leader, working alongside contractors, consortia and supply-chains to consistently deliver project milestones and add value to the overall service offering. His ‘can-do’ ethos and the trademark teamwork he established with the multiple stakeholders of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Royal Hospital for Children was a key factor in its success. Neil has helped Trusts to deliver acute, primary care and mental health schemes and has good knowledge of the key design and operational drivers to develop a successful solution.
He is competent to deal with challenges such as phasing, reducing environmental impact on live sites, health and safety as well as managing the progress of simultaneous projects at various locations. Neil is one of the key practice representatives for P21+, notably delivering schemes such as the award winning Personality Disorder Unit in East London. Neil was also responsible for the Centre for Neuromuscular Disease refurbishment scheme, which won the Building Better Healthcare award for Best Interior Design.
Saurabh Bhatia

His work has also included providing strategic consulting to a broad range of clients including developing business and technology strategies and evaluating business cases.
Brian Ahern

Brian Ahern embarked on his professional architectural career in 1993 and was taught the craft of designing luxury high-end residential condominiums and rental apartments under the tutelage of one of New York City’s most prolific architects, Costas Kondylis. After nearly 25+ years of completing unparalleled and significantly noteworthy developments all across the globe, Mr. Ahern has joined the New York City office of IBI as the firm’s Residential and Mixed Use Studio Leader. He brings to IBI Group his vast architectural acumen and collective expertise which he has amassed over the course of designing nearly 2,500 luxury condominiums, over 2,000 rental apartments, 500,000 sf of retail space,1.2 million square feet of hotel space, 7.4 million square feet of residential development and 3.5 million square feet of adaptive reuse. His most recent assignment was overseeing the design and historic restoration of the 125-year-old landmarked building, “The Old Post Office” and repurposing it into the recently crowned five-star Trump International Hotel, Washington, DC which opened in November of 2016.

Bruce Beaton

Bruce Beaton is an accomplished project manager with over 25 years of experience, utilizing best practices to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of complex infrastructure designs, large industrial, commercial, institutional, transportation, transit, and health care projects. He has extensive experience with the AFP/P3 delivery model as both leader of project agreement development and transaction phase activities with Infrastructure Ontario and as Technical Advisor to Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Transportation on multibillion-dollar transportation projects. Bruce is fully versed in the development of schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, risk matrices and procurement documents. His past and current roles have required leadership of teams of professionals, both internal and external, in the development of complex infrastructure designs, technical specification documents and managing multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high quality designs.
Rachel Hutchins

Rachel Hutchins is a spatial data expert who helps coordinate our Geographical Information Systems (GIS) offering globally. Rachel started working with IBI for the London 2012 Olympic games, and has helped shape our international Games offering on further projects such as the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Toronto 2015 Pan Am/ Parapan Am Games.
Rachel specializes in the analysis of transport data and works with clients such as Highways England, Transport for Greater Manchester and Transport for London, to use this data to provide innovative answers to complex transport challenges. In addition to the Transport Sector, Rachel provides spatial data expertise to projects across IBI’s portfolio. Rachel often coordinates with multiple stakeholders from different agencies to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard, on time and on budget.
Zohra Mutabanna

Zohra Mutabanna is a city and transportation planner, and urban designer with a wide range of experience in transportation planning, architecture, and urban design through projects in the US and India. Zohra has worked on projects involving transit oriented development, non-motorized transportation planning, streetscape design, transit service planning, microsimulation modeling and transit technologies.She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters in City Planning and a concentrated focus in transportation planning and urban design.
Stuart Jones

Trained in landscape architecture, his professional experience spans over 20 years and includes work on both the development and the planning sides of the business. His projects have ranged from downtown infill sites to large master planned communities in locations across North America, Asia, Scandinavia, and the Middle East. He is skilled at creating a compelling story and sense of place for projects, which he communicates through drawings, standards, guidelines, and zoning. He has a strong understanding of the key issues affecting development including building types, street design, transit, servicing and the public realm, and he is an effective manager of the specialists in these fields.
Scott Stewart

As the CEO of IBI Group and member of the Board of Directors, Scott Stewart is responsible for providing executive leadership to the company with a particular focus on the operational management and execution. Scott has been with the firm since the early 1980s, initially as a transportation engineer and planner, and grew to lead the development of the solutions sector. As CEO, he continues to be a proponent of technology-driven design — the ethos which underlies IBI Group’s project and product offerings.
Scott is active in the community and sits on the Board for the Transportation Association of Canada as well as ITS Canada, where he has fulfilled various roles including chair.
Scott has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Jill Mackay

Upon joining IBI Group, Jill Mackay was tasked to develop Regional ITS architecture for a broad range of clients, including throughout the state of Washington. Through the facilitation of stakeholder workshops, Jill became adept at helping agencies identify a vision and strategic path for the identification, prioritization and implementation of innovative transportation technologies that would improve operational efficiencies and performance.
Beyond the planning phase, Jill has worked on fare collection, electronic toll collection and CAD/AVL system implementations from the initial needs assessment phase through to systems acceptance. Currently, Jill is leading IBI Group’s multidisciplinary Connected and Autonomous Vehicles practice, which is comprised of professionals dedicated to guiding our traffic and transit agency clients on how to plan, prepare and benefit from innovative autonomous technologies. A team from the CAV Working Group was recently a finalist in New York?s Driverless Future design challenge, which sought ideas on how automated vehicles could address urban growth issues in New York City.
Jennifer Lem

Jennifer Lem has highly developed conceptual skills, planning abilities, as well as a keen eye for finishes and details as evidenced by her work on the Edition Hotels (Miami; Waikiki), New World Hotel (Guangzhou), and St. Regis Hotel (Mexico City). Her ability to document and detail the interior environment is integral to her role in developing the Hospitality and Residential Interiors practice, where she is currently working on Minto?s Yorkville Park, Museum House, Harmony Village and the Nitesh Estates amongst projects.
Tony Burley

Tony Burley is the US Healthcare+ Lead and has managed multiple design and project teams for all scales of healthcare and science projects. His experience spans new build, refurbishment and strategic planning of facilities, in roles as both designer and client representative and covers Traditional, Design and Build, Framework and AFP/P3 procurement. The multiple perspectives from this rounded experience provides Tony with a real understanding of the opportunities and challenges that face healthcare facilities, and fuels a passion for ongoing innovation to provide a safer, more efficient and pleasant patient experience. Tony is an excellent communicator and regular conference speaker, who enjoys building strong relationships with clients, users and wider stakeholder groups.
Tony supports IBI THiNK and an evidence-based approach to design, which has included working on joint projects with EDB guru Professor Roger S Ulrich, formerly of Texas A&M University.
Garry Howard

Garry Howard is a talented designer, skilled at executing complex design exercises for both the healthcare and education sector. An active listener, Garry works closely with clients to translate their aspirations into a robust brief. He engages all stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and creative solution with a keen interest in providing a sustainable design. Garry’s involvement in PFI projects has made the most of his ability to conceptualise highly complicated schemes. His expertise lies in visualising ideas with speed and accuracy, allowing new designs to be explored with ease.
With a history of leading large design teams and consortia, Garry is confident at delivering projects of any size and at all stages of design and procurement. In healthcare, Garry offers a great depth of experience, from complex acute hospitals to smaller, specialist mental health facilities. With a good understanding of healthcare planning, he has been able to offer clients creative solutions that meet their ‘model of care’ whilst designing-in both flexibility and expansion opportunities for future change.
In education, Garry has worked with Colleges, including specialist agricultural schools and Local Authorities to develop designs that are cost-effective and adaptable whilst providing environments that help foster a positive learning experience.
Lisa D’Abbondanza

Lisa D’Abbondanza LEED AP is a Registered Architect in the Toronto office Transit Architecture studio. With over 20 years of experience, her ability to understand and implement rigorous design, management and construction standards has allowed her to successfully serve major institutional clients and municipalities and develop her skills as both a Design Architect and Project Manager. Lisa?s specialization in Transit Architecture began with the award-winning modernization of the TTC Victoria Park Station and Bus Terminal. Lisa played an integral role on the recently completed western segment of the Mississauga Bus Rapid Transit Line consisting of eight transit stations. She is currently the system-wide Architectural Lead for the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Line consisting of 15 transit stations and ten surface stops. Lisa is a member of Ontario Association of Architects, Canada Green Building Council, Toronto Society of Architecture, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and Women in Transportation Society.
Doug Rodger

Doug Rodger has over 15 years of experience in the field of information and communication technology, with a specialization in international ITS consultancy and project management.
He has developed and delivered a wide range of innovative technology and ITS solutions for a number of high profile clients, improving network monitoring and management, expanding and enhancing travel and traffic information and developing national policy. He has extensive knowledge of major ITS system fundamentals covering analysis, design, specification, procurement, development, implementation and operation.
With a comprehensive technical background and excellent, communication and organisational skills he is experienced in effectively managing teams and is responsible for managing IBI Group’s consultants in Scotland. Doug holds a first class Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is PRINCE2 accredited.

Andrea Lendak

Andrea was part of the project management team that stewarded the award-winning delivery of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. She was also pivotal figure in transportation demand management for the Toronto 2015 and London 2010 Olympic Games.
Wendy de Silva

Wendy de Silva is an award winning architect and accredited RIBA Client Advisor with over 30 years of industry experience. She has amassed a wealth of knowledge across a range of educational, commercial and residential projects, but her particular expertise is in healthcare design. She has extensive understanding of the mental health sector and has worked with clients who are at the forefront of best practices and she is passionate about service improvements. Her project work has been recognized with awards for innovation and for providing best in class mental health facilities. She has presented papers on mental health design at conferences in the UK and Scandinavia.
Wendy has also worked on a wide range of primary and community health facilities and is keenly interested in the integration of health and social care services. She has been involved in competition winning integrated health and housing developments in London regeneration areas and has worked as Technical Advisor to community based NHS Trusts.
Wendy’s involvement as a governor of UCLH FT from 2004-2011 also enabled her to gain excellent insight into the rapidly changing NHS environment and the pressures that Foundation Trusts currently face. She continues to serve on its Arts and Heritage Committee.
Jannis Nassoulis

Jannis Nassoulis has more then 18 years of experience in the infrastructure construction and transportation industry. After he successfully managed the design, installation, testing and commissioning of the first large scale ITS project in Greece, he was involved in motorway operations undertaking the role of the Tunnel Safety Officer of the Athens ring road. He coordinated large scale exercises and fire tests in tunnels.
In 2007, Jannis organized the operation and maintenance of the 230km long motorway concession project, Aegean Motorway, as Chief Operations Officer. Holding the position of the COO for nine years, he managed a major operational crisis involving a dramatic rockfall incident, resulting to longlasting international arbitration procedures, legal disputes and claims. He also actively participated in a successful project restructuring process, necessary to mitigate severe problems resulting from the Greek financial crisis, earning serious experience in PPP project financing, contractual arrangements and negotiation practices.

As a Transportation Engineer in the Irvine office, Lydia La Point has performed traffic impact analyses, computer modeling, and quality control for several transit projects. She was also involved in the production of cost estimates for traffic signal components and roadway striping in signalized intersections.
Jim Moffatt

Jim Moffatt has a broad based urban land and municipal engineering experience with specific emphasis on greenfield development and urban rehabilitation and renewal. His broader experience includes management of municipal projects in both St. John’s and Ottawa, including three major Neighbourhood Improvement Projects in St. John?s, encompassing all aspects of urban renewal and numerous integrated road, water and sewer projects in Ottawa. Jim is ultimately responsible for all municipal projects carried out in Ottawa and manages the multidisciplinary teams in the design and construction of sewage pumping stations. He is currently the project manager on a major urban land development covering 500 hectares being responsible for all designs, approvals, construction administration and acceptances for a major multi use development in Ottawa.

Scott Arbuckle

Scott Arbuckle has 25 years of diverse land development and urban planning experience and is a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and is a Registered Professional Planner. Scott is recognized by the Ontario Municipal Board (OPPI) as an expert in the area of land use planning. Areas of practice include: Planning Feasibility/ Due Diligence Studies, Community Design Visioning, Official Plans, Official Plan Amendments, District/ Secondary Plans, Block Plans, Plans of Subdivision, Zoning By-Law Amendments, Consents, Minor Variances, Site Plans and Open Space Design.
Scott is the principal client liaison and project manager for a full scale of land development projects and is ultimately accountable for achieving client performance expectations including schedule, budget and product delivery. As such, he is responsible for leading an in-house team of planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture and design professionals; as well as the management of interdisciplinary teams of sub-consultants including urban design, architectural, environmental, geotechnical, hydro geological, transportation, infrastructure and storm water management consultants.
Ron Eagleston

Ron Eagleston has widespread experience in the management of complex architectural projects. He has been responsible for a large number of commercial, institutional, and residential projects, including mixed-use developments, hotel and resort design, and healthcare facilities. Ron provides day-to-day leadership and administration for the firm’s Vancouver office. In addition to this role, he continues to provide quality assurance and quality control for many of the firm’s architecture projects.
Donald Verbanac

Don Verbanac is an interdisciplinary Project Manager specializing in transit facilities. Don has 20 years of combined experience in architecture, urban planning, transportation, retail and industrial design from Canada, the USA, Mexico and the Netherlands. For the past decade, Don has primarily worked on BRT, LRT and subway (metro) stations as well as bus terminals and on-street transit facilities. His multidisciplinary background along with his acumen for complex engineering projects have been applied to Waterloo?s King-Victoria Transit Hub, Mississauga BRT, and the successful bid for two large P3 LRT projects in Canada.
Don has professional degrees in urban planning (BAA) from Ryerson University and an architecture degree (M.Arch) from the University of Manitoba. Don is registered as an architect (Bureau Architectenregister-SBA) in the Netherlands, as an intern architect with the Ontario Association of Architects and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, as well as a registered professional planner (RPP) with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners. Don is currently the Segment (Design) Manager on Science Centre and Kennedy Stations where he is managing interdisciplinary design works in parallel with construction as part of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
Juan Camilo Barrera

Juan Camilo Barrera has over 20 years of experience involved in various aspects of civil and municipal engineering. His skills and expertise include utility coordination, hydrology and hydraulic modelling, storm water management planning, water supply systems, earthworks, subsurface utility engineering, municipal engineering, urban planning and project management. Juan has worked as the Civil Engineering Lead and Project Engineer on a number of projects, including in the mining, industrial and infrastructure sectors. He also has extensive project cycle experience, from front-end studies to full EPCM and Design-Bid-Build mandates, as well as P3/Design-Build projects in complex and time-sensitive environments. He is an active member of the Public Utilities Management Subcommittee, which is part of the Maintenance and Construction Standing Committee of the Transportation Association of Canada.
Arend Lootsma

Arend Lottsma is responsible for management of municipal infrastructure replacement projects. His duties include ongoing staff management and client liaison during the preparation of engineering designs and contract documents, where he flexes his technical skills in the preparation and review of engineering design and contract documents.
He maintains a consistent presence on the project management front, from coordinating utilities, regulatory agencies and municipalities through to contract administration and project coordination during the construction phase ensuring smooth transitions through the project lifecycle.
Since joining the firm upon graduation from the University of Waterloo, Arend has participated in a number of high-profile local projects within the urban downtown areas of Kitchener (King Street, Young Street, College Street, Otto Street and Water Street) and Hespeler Village (Cambridge).

As a registered architect, Peter Boccia has over 30 years of professional experience. Geoff and his team now support IBI traveller information systems that service roughly 25% of the population in the US, with notable active 511 solutions deployed in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Florida, Wisconsin and Los Angeles. Geoff led IBI’s efforts for the deployment of the traveller information web site for the Pan Am games. Geoff has led efforts to provide SaaS (Software as a Solution), advanced IBI’s hosting center in Tampa, Florida and has managed the program to productize IBI’s software solution thereby allowing IBI to bring tremendous value to its clients. He is currently leading IBI’s efforts to advance the Event Reporting System and managing the New York and Wisconsin 511 projects.

Neil Myers is a Licensed Architect and native New Yorker practicing in the construction and design field since 2002. Neil is a recent addition to the IBI Group and acts as the Zoning and Building Code Specialist for the office. He has extensive experience navigating and ushering projects through the bureaucratic review and approval processes of local zoning resolutions, building departments, landmarks commissions, and variance requests.
Neil has successfully designed and managed many complex projects such as: historic townhouse renovations, new apartment buildings, NYC restaurants, factory conversions, property subdivisions, high rise hotel renovations, rooftop bar spaces, office interiors, and zoning bulk and feasibility studies. During architecture school he was employed in custom product development for an architectural precast concrete facility in Long Island; this experience has fostered his respect fabrication processes, the limitation of materials and how we apply them in Architecture today.

Peter Moore is the Regional Director of Canada West, which includes offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, and Vancouver. He is responsible for the region’s operational results, including financial performance, professional and technical work, staff development, and client satisfaction. As IBI Group’s Land Engineering Lead, he counts over 30 years of experience in the strategic review, design, and management of land development projects. He has been responsible for various aspects of the development of over 10,000 single-family lots, 400 acres of multi-family development, over 300 acres of commercial development, and more than 700 acres of industrial development, primarily in Western Canada.
He has also been responsible for Transportation Planning and the design of numerous arterial roads, stormwater management facilities, and large transmission and sewer lines.
Peter has an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from University College Dublin and a Member of the Association of Professional Engineers from both British Columbia and the Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.

Richard has strong relations with key health bodies. Richard is a founder and champion of IBI TH!NK. An advocate of evidence-based design, Richard creates innovations that positively impact the psychology and physiology of patient groups. Sense Sensitive Design, Emotional Mapping, the Design Prescription and the hPod are a few of the models that Richard has successfully pioneered. This has led to him authorising two new NHS guidelines for ‘Evidence-based Design Healthcare Environments’.
Richard is a product designer. In collaboration with manufacturers, he creates interventions, such as the BedPod, to support and improve patient care.
Richard works frequently with the NHS and DOH Expert Working Groups and Reference Groups helping to develop new Healthcare Strategies and Guidelines. More recently he has co-authored three key Paediatric Guideline documents entitled: ‘Hospital Accommodation for children and young peopleHBN 23’, ‘Friendly healthcare environments for children and young people’ and ‘Mental Health faculties for children and young people’.
Richard was also an active member and contributor to the Expert Reference Group responsible for ‘Facilities for Maternity Care’ HBN21. He was a key contributor to ‘The Children’s National Service Framework’ an NHS and Department of Health document with evaluation process and recommendations Richard made early contributions and document reviews of ‘Creating a Better Health Environment’ an Audit Took Kit by The National Childbirth Trust in 2003.
In education, Richard is translating his work in healthcare paediatrics to benefit teachers and students. Working alongside University partners, he is pioneering the development of an ‘optimal learning environment’, improving motivation, behaviour and concentration amongst pupils, especially those with special educational needs.

In science, Richard has developed a very good understanding of laboratory planning and research space design, creating buildings that inspired collaboration, productivity and innovation. Richard has also been heavily involved in IBI’s ‘Four Labs Four Cities’ research project, a comparative study to define best practice features within laboratory spaces.
Richard graduated from the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, where he was awarded the Edward Loveluck Travelling Scholarship 2002. Tom Bacus, office lead for both the Salt Lake City and Denver offices, brings over 20 years of experience in planning and civil engineering to the IBI team. During his career, he has successfully delivered numerous projects including work on tech campuses, large planned communities and light rail transit projects. His experience includes project work in transit corridors, transit oriented development, integrated water systems, streetscape design, parks, open space and trail design, site civil design, utility infrastructure, development entitlements, permitting, cost estimating and feasibility analysis.
In addition to planning and design work, Tom has done significant public policy work around transit and sustainability, including the development of green infrastructure standards for the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), regional air quality guidelines at the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, transit funding initiatives in Dallas, Denver and Salt Lake City, implementation of regional bike sharing in Salt Lake City, and public/private/NGO coalition building around air quality and smart growth initiatives.

Rakesh Pandey
