Hellinikon Infrastructure 3D Modeling

IBI Group was retained by Lamda Development S.A. to provide BIM services for the first large-scale Building Information Modeling (BIM) project in Greece, The Hellinikon, which is also known as The Ellinikon. Our 3D models for the project’s infrastructure and utility networks will assist in transforming a former international airport into the largest coastal park in Europe.

IBI Group is providing BIM services to transform a former international airport into The Hellinikon, a project set to become the largest coastal park in Europe. Situated between Mount Hymettus, the beaches of the Athenian Riviera, and inside the metropolitan area of Athens, The Hellinikon is unique in terms of position, scale and potential.

We are bringing the large-scale project to life by producing 3D digital models for several aspects of the mixed-use development. This includes modeling for ten unique utility networks, several tunnels and bridges, parking facilities, two water canals, a 1.5-km tram line, and 50 km of roadways and walkways. Our goal was to provide models that are efficient, aesthetically advanced and environmentally focused.

Our collaboration with Lamda Development S.A will significantly transform Athens’ coastline by combining the area’s natural beauty with unique landmark buildings and sustainable design concepts.

A key feature in the development is a world-class metropolitan park spanning over 21,527,820 sq ft. The green space will provide a communal hub to unwind and appreciate nature-based aspects of the development.

Alongside the urban park, the project will feature an entertainment complex, shopping centres and luxury residences. The Hellinikon is projected to attract over one million tourists every year. It is also expected to enhance the quality of life for residents by creating over 75,000 jobs for members of the community.
