Claudio Venier is a graduate of McGill University’s School of Architecture, where he earned both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Architecture. Claudio has over 25 years of experience working in private practice and in architecture offices, including ARCOP, Dan Hanganu, and Saia Barbese in Montreal, Wilkson Eyre in London, England, and in Toronto with Montgomery and Sisam, HOK Canada, architects Alliance and KPMB. Since May 2016, he has worked as a project architect for IBI Group in Toronto. Claudio’s projects include the Condominiums at One Bedford, the award-winning Maple Leaf Square mixed-use project, Library District Condominiums and Axis Condominiums. Claudio’s professional work is characterized by the ability to develop and realize high levels of design through his involvement in both the design and construction phases of a project. Claudio also has an interest in architectural education and sustainable design. He has participated in architecture studios at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University, and has entered sustainable design competitions, including CMHC’s Equilibrium Sustainable Housing Demonstration Initiative.

During Mat’s 17 years with the firm he has enjoyed a diverse and extensive collection of projects. A recent effort has been the new Hockinson Middle School, an innovative public school in Southwestern Washington. He worked collaboratively with the contractor to bring it to completion, while being an advocate for key design concepts. Mat takes great care in all facets of the design process, applying a critical eye throughout every stage of a project. He is a valuable member of any team, willing to handle any task asked of him in order to adhere to project schedule and budget without compromising on design quality and intent. Providing clients with a final product that satisfies and exceeds their vision is what inspires Mat. He was a key player in the modernization projects for North Santiam School District that involved upgrades to existing schools, and is project architect for Tigard-Tualatin School District’s Twality Middle School.

Caz Thomson has 20 years of commercial experience in systems architecture design and full lifecycle development within many disciplines, ranging from utilities management, through medical insurance to manufacturing and transportation systems. Caz has excellent technical expertise in a number of development platforms and significant experience in requirements analysis, system design and architecture, the management of large development teams and the delivery of mobile, web and system development projects. Caz also architected IBI Group’s Software and System Development processes and procedures in the UK, using the Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology. She currently co-manages the UK Systems team, which now numbers some 20 developers and specialists.

John Amodeo LEED AP has over 30 years of experience in landscape architecture and practices a wide range of project types from small to complex, in both the public and private sectors. His varied project types include college and university campuses, parks, market and public housing, historic landscapes, streetscapes, bikeways, and natural resource conservation. He has also prepared landscape development guidelines for municipalities with particular emphasis on sustainable development. John has extensive experience with public process and regulatory permitting, placing particular focus on consensus building in the early phases of a project. Since 1997, John has also been a Commissioner on the Boston Landmark Commission and the South End Landmark District Commission.

Anita Leonoff joined IBI Group shortly after graduating from UBC’s Architecture School and learned quickly. In the mid 1980s, Anita began the renovation work on the Hotel Vancouver, one of her longest running projects and one she continues to work on to this day. In the 1990s, Anita took on the local work for Holt Renfrew which at the time was renovation work. This later turned into a new store for Vancouver, followed by Calgary, and a number in Ontario and Quebec, which is a testament to her work. Anita’s areas of specialty include institutional and hospitality facilities design, retail and office tenant fit-ups, heritage renovations, and the management of the approvals and public consultation processes.

Mr. Samson Li is a Professional Mechanical Engineer with over 10 years of experience in designing, specifying, and coordinating Tunnel Ventilation Systems (TVS) for various rail transit projects throughout his career; heavily involved throughout the life-cycle from design, specification, installation, to testing and commissioning of the TVS for these rapid transit projects. He also has many years of producing and reviewing fire simulation models for transit projects, and is familiar with the programs and standards involved. Having produced both mechanical and architectural drawings, combined with the experience of working with several senior architects and engineers during his career, it has provided him an understanding of the required integration and coordination of tunnel ventilation systems within transit station design. Samson has also been in the position of site engineer and coordinator for a considerable amount of time during his career, gaining him knowledge in general construction and equipment maintenance.
