In collaboration with Integral Group and NetX Inc., IBI Group provided Interior Design services for the new office spaces in Edmonton, AB and Vancouver, BC. Wealth management firm, Richardson Wealth, was looking to update their office to reflect a more modern aesthetic, inline with how its teams work together. Ergonomics played a key role in the design, along with a focus on technology in the firm’s client-facing meeting spaces.

Prioritizing employee well-being through design
IBI Group acted as the interior designer for Richardson Wealth’s 18,000 square foot office that occupies one floor in the Manulife Place building in downtown Edmonton. The office was completed in 2021, and its design includes many of the key characteristics prioritized in Richardson Wealth’s Vancouver office, including employee well-being and stakeholder relationships. The 5,156 square foot client centre intends to provide a unique experience for clients and employees, incorporating a diverse array of meeting room types and state-of-the-art technology. The collaborative space provides an area where client-advisor relationships can be strengthened and features lounge furniture and enhanced amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for clients.
Employee well-being was an important aspect of the project and is implemented through the use of biophilic design. Biophilia was achieved by implementing planters and a living moss wall throughout the space to encourage clients and employees to connect with nature. The general office space and client centre incorporate sit-to-stand desks as well as various types of meeting and collaborative spaces to promote movement and collaboration amongst users. The space was designed in so that every individual has access to natural daylight wherever they might be working or meeting.
Tailoring the office to promote team collaboration
IBI Group acted as the Interior Design firm for this project spanning 1.75 floors in the Guinness Tower in downtown Vancouver, with the partial floor being dedicated solely to Richardson Wealth’s client centre. The intent for the reception space and client centre was to provide a truly seamless and welcoming experience with multi-functional capabilities.
Innovative meeting room types with integrated AV allow for flexibility, while a moveable glass partition in the main boardroom supports town hall meetings, social functions and training. The existing interconnecting staircase was refinished to encourage movement and allow the client centre to be easily accessed from the office space above. The general office space incorporates offices with glass fronts along the core and workstations around the perimeter, providing all staff access to daylight and exterior views.
Employee well-being was at the forefront of the design, with flexibility being integrated by providing sit/stand desks in each workstation and office. Open, collaborative spaces are peppered throughout to allow for impromptu meetings among teams, while enclosed meeting rooms and phone rooms are located along the core. The spacious staff lounge occupies prime corner real estate to encourage collaboration and social connections. Overall, the project achieved the client’s vision of a space that would allow collaboration among teams, address the evolving advisor-client relationship, and provide an enhanced employee experience.
