Valley Line LRT

A $1.8 billion undertaking, Stage One of the Valley Line LRT will dramatically improve commute times and the overall public transport experience for Edmontonians. Part of an international design team for the project, this stage extends 13.1 km from downtown to the Mill Woods Town Centre in Edmonton.

The Valley Line LRT will be a 27km, low-floor, urban line. Stage One will operate between Mill Woods in southeast Edmonton and Downtown Edmonton, incorporating 12 urban stops and an operations, maintenance and storage facility. Station stops have level-boarding platforms, conveniently integrated into the existing roadway system within medians, as well as into sidewalks and other pedestrian systems.

Delivered through a P3 consortium, the system will come into full service in 2021. IBI Group’s role on the project includes providing design leadership to the following elements:

  • Facilities Architecture of the Operations & Maintenance Facility (OMF), Davies Station, Utility Complexes & Buildings and Churchill Connector
  • Landscape Architecture & Urban Design of 102 Avenue Streetscape, Corridor Wide Landscapes and River Valley Landscape Integration
  • Traffic Signals Infrastructure
  • Sustainable Urban Integration (SUI) of public art, branding, support system, buildings, bridges & structures, lighting and urban realm
