The Innovation & Design Building
IBI Group worked with Elkus Manfredi Architects on the transformation and enhancement to The Innovation and Design Building in Boston’s Seaport District.
Transforming urban spaces
IBI Group’s work focused on the north side of the existing building, primarily associated with four new entry portals and urban parks from Drydock Avenue to the building.
These new gateways employ reused shipping containers to denote the entrances, supported by landscape architectural site elements including:
- Wood decking
- Granite pavement
- Integral seating
- Bike parking
These urban “parklets” provide opportunity for food truck dining, informal gathering, and shaded seating adjacent to the primary retail promenade.
