Airport Taxi Dispatch System
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey entrusted IBI Group to provide a new taxi dispatch system for all three of the main airports serving the New York City area. Our solution has improved the performance, security and reliability of this essential part of the city’s transportation network.

IBI Group provided the Airport Taxi Dispatch System for John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport in New York, NY, and Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, NJ. We worked closely with technology and cyber security specialists at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to streamline an essential transportation need, offering visitors and residents a reliable means to travel to and from the airport.
The project’s completed Phase 1 includes dispatch logic, fare estimation capability and handheld tablets for terminal dispatchers, along with RFID readers, LCD displays and traffic lights deployed throughout the three airports. We provided an online Taxi Driver Information Dashboard that shares useful metrics in real time, including average wait times for recently departed taxi cabs, parking lot occupancy and projected arriving passenger volume throughout the day.
In addition to taxi dispatching and information, the system offers a real-time data feed on passenger pickups from ride-hailing services Uber and Lyft. In Phase 2 of this project, we will deploy a mobile app for taxi drivers to reduce their wait times in airport holding lots.
