We can meet the challenge because we must.

At IBI my team and I strive daily to create desirable places to live, work, play, shop, learn and heal, optimizing key social, economic and economic objectives and drawing inspiration from the 'genius loci'.
Stephen Shawcross joined the IBI Group Toronto office in 1979. In 1980 he moved to Calgary and became a partner in 1987. Mr. Shawcross was instrumental in the growth of the practice, which he led along with Architect Ross Hayes for many years. Under his direction the Calgary office added civil engineering, landscape architecture, graphics, and expanded the scope of the planning group to include land valuation, market research, economics and benefit/cost analysis to complement the land use and urban design functions. During his tenure, the planning and landscape groups garnered numerous honours including AACIP and CIP awards. More recently Mr. Shawcross and his team, including the full complement of IBI disciplines, have created state-of-the-art tools for use in Flood Damage Reduction projects. This work has culminated in the authorship of the Canadian Guidelines and Database of Flood Vulnerability Functions for Natural Resources and Public Safety Canada.
